What a fascinating book describing some of Marco Polo's adventures. The reading level of is accurate in general depending on the child's reading level.

It wouldn't have been a challenge for my 11 y/o son, but for the sake of my 7 y/o I decided that we should read it by: 1. "The Adventures of Polo" was written and illustrated by Regis Faller.

In this graphic novel, young readers are taken on an adventure with a playful pup named Polo. Faller tells a complete story without the use of words and in his book, readers are able to see Polo take a series of trips, including a trip to a tropical island, an iceberg, and /5.

The Adventures of Marco Polo Category: Biography Informational Author Russell Freedman tells the story or tale of Marco Polo and his adventures around the world.

This story reminded me of the saying if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Polo seems to have encountered many many unusual situations on his journey/5. The Adventures of Polo Regis Faller, Author, Regis Faller, Illustrator.

All of this being said, Bergreen's book is informative and I learned a lot from it. It's just that the story isn't delivered in a 5-star, knock-your-socks-off way/5().

This manuscript from about is one of the oldest extant copies of Les voyages de Marco Polo (The travels of Marco Polo), the account by the Venetian merchant Marco Polo (circa −) of his adventures in Central Asia and the Far East during the latter part of the 13th century.

It is possibly one of five manuscripts relating to Marco Polo’s journey that belonged to King. Last year, I read a beautiful little book called Invisible Cities () by Italian author Italo Calvino () [read an excerpt in this blog post from February ] - a fictionalised, highly inventive, account of the meeting between the Venetian merchant traveller Marco Polo (–) and the Mongolian emperor Kublai Khan ().

A gloriously designed biography of Marco Polo brings to young readers some of the excitement his Description of the World must have offered to contemporary readers upon its publication at the turn of the 14th century.

The graceful text quotes from Polo’s account as it describes his travels into a land that, unfortunately, is likely as little known to the average. The author considered the story of Marco Polo one of the most romantic and interesting of mediaeval or of modern times, and in this delightful little book, he sets out to recount the adventures of the intrepid explorer.

Intended for young readers, Brooks well-chosen excerpts from Polo 's own diaries also work as a comprehensive and readable summary of Polo 's writings. This name is introduced in Ramusio, but probably by interpolation, as well as the correction of the statement regarding Euphrates, which is perhaps a branch of the notion alluded to in Prologue, ch.

The Travels of Marco Polo/Book 3/Chapter From Wikisource which relates the romantic adventures of a certain Duke Ernest of Bavaria; whilst the story embodies more than one other adventure belonging to the History of Sindbad.

The Duke and his comrades, navigating in some unknown ramification of the Euxine, fall within the fatal. The Travels of Marco Polo The famous explorer Marco Polo was born in the year to a family of merchants.

Even then, the city where he was born --Venice--was a center for commerce and trading in the Mediterranean region. Because Marco's family was wealthy, he received a good education, and also developed an interest in history and geography.

Originally the book's name was "A Description of the World" now the book is called "The Travels of Marco Polo". For the rest of that year in the prison cell Marco would tell the 24 year story and Rustichello would write it all down.

This book inspired. It was perhaps the first book to achieve best-seller status before the invention of the printing press-it was certainly the most controversial. Did Venetian trader and explorer MARCO POLO () actually reach the court of Kublai Khan, serve the emperor as his emissary, and journey the distant lands of Cathay for 17 years, as he relates in his Travels of Marco Polo?3/5(1).
